Qigong Research

Being connected with nature has always been an intrinsic part of Tom Rogers' life. He spent seven summers during his twenties as a climbing instructor, mountain guide, and Outward Bound instructor in the Oregon Cascades, Washington Cascades, Tetons, and Wind River Range in Wyoming. Climbing his first big wall in Yosemite at age 21, and spending five days climbing El Capitan in 1975. Given his love of the outdoors, discovering Taoism on his first Qigong study trip to China was nothing short of an epiphany.

Dr. Tom Rogers has been studying eastern healing arts for over 25 years. He studied Shotokan karate until a hip condition forced him to stop. He started practicing yoga to alleviate chronic back pain due to a rock climbing injury and has practiced Tai Chi and Qigong for over fifteen years. He has trained in Taoist Medical Bagua Xundao Qigong in China with lineage holder Master Wan Su Jian as well as Wuji Hundun Qigong with lineage holder Master Duan Zhi Liang. He learned several forms of Tai Chi, including Chen style from lineage holder Tony Wong. He is a Member of the National Qigong Association and enjoys practicing many forms of Qigong and Tai Chi.

Dr. Rogers is also a certified Tai Chi and Qigong Instructor with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. He is President and CEO of the non-profit Qigong Institute of Los Altos, California whose charter is Qigong research and education. The Qigong Institute website hosts podcasts, videos, the online Qigong and Energy Medicine Database with over 5000 entries, current information on Qigong research and events, the Scientific Basis of Qigong and Energy Medicine, a world-wide Qigong and Tai Chi Teacher Directory, and more. His research interests include the nature of consciousness, the scientific basis of Qigong and Energy Medicine, and integration of Western science and medical practice with Eastern healing modalities.
